In The Forests Of The Night

About Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's In The Forests Of The Night
Three-hundred-year old Risika looks back on her life as she reflects the events happening in the course of a dew days. She tells of her past and the events leading up to the day of her “blood mother”, a vampire named Ather sired her in 1684, and the days after that. Including how she meet her rival, Aubrey Karew. Now Risika is a world weary night. Stalker who sleeps in Concord, Massachusetts, by day and prowls New York City by night, in search of fresh blood to slake her inhuman thirst. There is little in the mortal world that surprises Risika anymore, until she returns from a hunt one night to find a black rose of her pillow – the same flower she was given on the eve of her mortal death. Knowing that the rose is a taunt from Aubrey, a tall dark handsome and deadly three thousand year old vampire with a dark aura and a deadly dagger that can mortally wound a vampire, Risika decides to confront her nemesis. In a bloody battle with Aubrey, considering herself to have nothing left to lose, she may soon realize that the battle will be a hard one when Aubrey does have something to lose, thus making a tough battle worse. While the plot of this vampire tale may not stand out from the fanged masses of the genre, what does not stand out is the fact that the author was only 14 years old when it was written.
